if you really really want to see the VENTNOR pier and beach bus505 runs down from ATLANTIC CITY. Maybe there are more lifeguards stations on weekends However the accessible section does have rest rooms and a lifeguard station, the only examples of each I saw on the whole 2 miles. VENTNOR CITY FISHING PIER** (mid-beach) is the only break on VENTNOR BOARDWALK but is disappointing in that the outer half is blocked to the public.

the boardwalk starts at north ATLANTIC CITY and runs the full length of VENTNOR BEACH** terminating at the start (north end) of MARGATE BEACH**. Okay, I realise visitors can come the several miles down from ATLANTIC CITY**, but few walkers will make it – some joggers and cyclists (like me) will do it – but you don’t build a boardwalk for joggers and cyclists surely? Where’s the ribbon of eats joints/fun fares/bars yada? What’s the point of extending boardwalk here (apart from being able to boast the longest boardwalk in the world)? It’s not to ease beach access - you could just as easily do this from any of those above mentioned streets on tracks across the dunes. Here’s the thing – a featureless strip of raised boards over some low dunes (they were probably impressive fore-dunes before the boardwalk) backed by a no-mans-land of same with daggy low grass and then maybe 120m further a bunch of residential streets running inland – to me this doesn’t represent a boardwalk of note. ….NO OTHER REVIEWER AGREES WITH MY “POOR” RATING.
